The Irish 'Old Moore’s Almanac' is 258 years old. Its founder, Theophilus Moore, ran a classical academy at Milltown which was then a village near Dublin (since that time, it has been incorporated into the city). A teacher of Irish, English, Greek and Latin, he became known as a clever mathematician and a wizard of astrology, gaining the nickname 'The Irish Merlin'. He published his Old Moore's Almanac for the first time in 1764.

Here are some of the Old Moore’s Almanac predictions for 2022
1. Shortages of items cause panic and hoarding
2. A tourist spaceship has an incident which makes world news
3. News about Malaysia’s missing flight MH370
4. There will be a second pandemic, unrelated to the first
5. Robotics takes a lot of blue-collar work but add on white-collar work

This YouTube video from NewsNation shares recently released audio files related to UFOs, dating back 70 years. It feels different because it combines historical evidence with contemporary expert reactions, offering a fresh angle on ongoing UAP discussions. The video features notable figures like Avi Loeb, Luis Elizondo, and Ross Coulthart, who weigh in on the implications of these audio files and the silent objects mentioned within.
One significant aspect is the audio itself, which hasn't been publicly available until now. Its release raises questions about what the recordings might reveal regarding past UAP encounters. Are they simply mundane phenomena, or do they suggest something more intriguing? The reactions from experts add another layer, as they attempt to interpret the significance of these sounds in the context of current UAP investigations.
Avi Loeb's comments about the silent objects hint at a broader conversation about technological capabilities and what they might mean for our understanding of aerial phenomena. Elizondo and Coulthart provide context on how this audio fits into the larger narrative of UAP sightings and government disclosures. Their expertise offers critical insights, but it's important to remember that interpretations can vary widely. This diversity of thought is essential, especially when considering the limitations of the evidence presented.
Moreover, the expert commentary on the audio does not automatically validate any claims of extraterrestrial activity. Instead, it opens the door for a nuanced discussion about the nature of these sounds and their origins. It's a reminder that while the UAP phenomenon is often sensationalized, there are still many unanswered questions and plenty of skepticism that must be addressed.
Given the long history of UAP sightings and the slow pace of governmental transparency, the release of these audio files is a notable event. However, it also highlights the ongoing struggles in distinguishing between credible evidence and misinterpretations or misidentifications. As such, the discourse surrounding this video is crucial for the community navigating these complexities.
As we digest this new information, one important question arises: How can we better differentiate between valid UAP reports and those that may lead us astray in our understanding of aerial phenomena?

Footage dated June 1996 shows a bright, oval-shaped object descending rapidly toward the desert near White Sands Missile Range. The object appears to strike the ground, bounce or skip, and then slam down again before breaking apart into fragments. Due to its grainy, VHS-era quality, the footage makes it difficult to clearly identify what is being seen.

White Sands is a major U.S. military testing facility, where rockets, missiles, and experimental technologies are routinely evaluated. Many analysts believe the glowing object is likely a missile or test vehicle, with its unusual appearance caused by engine exhaust and camera exposure effects.
However, some UFO researchers argue that it could represent a classified experimental craft rather than a conventional missile. Certain groups associated with extraterrestrial research have suggested it may have been a form of “classified craft testing,” pointing to the object’s unusual behavior—particularly the apparent bounce and persistent glow, as not easily explained by known technology.
White Sands has a long history of both legitimate military testing and reported UFO sightings, which continues to fuel speculation. As a result, the so-called “1996 White Sands UFO crash” remains unconfirmed.
Ultimately, the footage stands as a mysterious clip, still debated today as either a weapons test or something more unconventional, depending on interpretation.

The so-called Hertzsprung–Russell diagram of 23,000 stars from the Hipparcos and Gliese catalogues, shows stellar luminosity versus color ranging from hot blue-white stars on the left side to cooler red stars on the right side. Hydrogen-burning stars like the Sun populate a band running from top-left to bottom-right called the Main Sequence. Giant stars clump on the upper-right side. At the lower-left is the band of white dwarfs, the dead cores of old stars that cool slowly over billions of years towards the bottom-right. (Image credit: Wikimedia)In my previous essay, posted here, I suggested that to preserve the habitability of its home planet — an advanced technological civilization might choose to move the planet away from a brightening sun-like star. The preferred planet-star separation would scale as the square root of the evolving star’s luminosity.
If this idea happens to be popular among our siblings in the family of intelligent civilizations within the Milky-Way galaxy, it might lead to an over-abundance of Earth-mass planets in the habitable zone around old Sun-like stars, as these stars evolve along the red giant branch of their Hertzsprung-Russel diagram.
But as the host sun-like star eventually turns to a faint white dwarf, the resident civilization might choose to migrate its planet closer to the dimmed furnace. This would imply an artificial over-abundance of habitable Earth-like planets around white dwarfs.
The graveyard of the Milky-Way galaxy is full of billions of corpses of dead sun-like stars in the form of old white dwarfs, each carrying about 60% of the mass of the Sun. At their typical age of a few billion years, the surface temperature of these white dwarfs is similar to that of the Sun, about 6,000 degrees Kelvin, resulting in white light which is conducive for life-as-we-know-it. The size of a white dwarf is comparable to that of Earth, but the habitable zone around it, is a hundred times bigger — amounting to 1 to 3 times that current radius of the Sun. Closer than a solar radius, the gravitational tide from the white dwarf would destroy a rocky planet.
The fact that the size of the white dwarf is comparable to that of Earth makes transits easy to detect. The probability for a transit is of order 0.6% for a habitable Earth-like planet around a white dwarf. This offers a unique opportunity for probing the composition of the atmospheres of habitable-zone Earth-mass exoplanets that transit white dwarfs.
In 2013, I co-authored a paper with Dani Maoz (published here) which showed that during a transit by an Earth-mass planet across a white dwarf, the transmission spectrum of the planet’s atmosphere would show prominent bio-markers such as molecular oxygen absorption at a wavelength of ∼ 0.76 micrometers. We calculated that a potentially life-sustaining Earth-like planet transiting a white dwarf would be detectable by the Webb telescope in about 5 hours of total exposure time, integrated over 160 two-minute transits.
A follow-up paper that I co-authored in 2014 here with my then undergraduate student Henry Lin (currently a professor at Princeton University), showed that industrial pollution is also detectable in habitable Earth-like planets around a white dwarf. In particular, tetrafluoromethane (CF4) and trichlorofluoromethane (CCl3F) are the easiest to detect chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) resulting from technological activity. Our paper estimated that a few days of total integration time on the Webb telescope will be necessary to detect the concentration of CCl3F or CF4 for industrial pollution that is ten times higher than the current level on Earth.
The discovery of an over-abundance of habitable Earth-like planets around red giants or white dwarfs can be substantiated as a technological signature by finding industrial pollution in the related planetary atmospheres.
Finding such evidence would provide a useful guide to humanity on how to survive on Earth in the next 10 billion years, both before and after the Sun will turn into a red giant and then a white dwarf in 7.6 billion years (as calculated here).
Based on the census of white dwarfs reported here, most stars formed billions of years before the Sun. Given that we arrived late to the cosmic party, we might have missed numerous tragic incidents involving the extinction of civilizations which did not engage in a cosmic engineering project to save their planet before it lost habitability. We were not around to hear their cry for help. We better be wise to learn the lessons from the surviving civilization by studying habitable planets around red giants and white dwarfs.
As the philosopher George Santayana stated in his 1905 book titled The Life of Reason: Reason in Common Sense: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Is the Mysterious Cylinder on Mars, Photographed in 2022 by the Curiosity Rover, a Human-Made Debris?
A raw image from the Mast camera (Mastcam) onboard NASA’s Mars rover Curiosity, taken on 2022–08–07 at 20:58:23 UTC. (Image credit: NASA)A raw image from the Mast camera (Mastcam) onboard NASA’s Mars Curiosity rover, taken on 2022–08–07 at 20:58:23 UTC, displays a mysterious cylinder buried in the Martian regolith of the Paraitepuy Pass — a narrow gap in the Gale Crater situated on the slopes of Mount Sharp.
This puzzling object was brought to my attention by Dr. Jan Špaček — who studies signatures of life on Mars and Professor Carol Cleland — who studies anomalies from a philosophical perspective. The object was publicly discussed in detail, for example here. I wrote back to Jan and Carol that anomalies are best analyzed in the open with full disclosure of all available data, since such discussions might motivate scientists to collect additional data that would resolve their mystery.
The cylinder can be seen in multiple images from both the Mastcam left and Mastcam right high-definition color cameras at different focal distances within the NASA, JPL, and WUSTL repositories. Related data was documented by NASA here, by JPL here (3556MR1025170721700585C00_DRCL), and by WUSTL here (Sol 3556, object 713174794). The cylinder was imaged from various angles here, here and here. It was identified in raw images of the Curiosity MSL analyst notebook but was not featured on the public mission website at the time of its discovery.
The shiny object has a perfectly round cylindrical shape with a length of about 20 centimeters and a flat end. The most likely explanation is that it corresponds to human-made debris.
Objects found by rovers that appear artificial are typically identified as debris from the mission’s own landing system, such as parts of the Sky Crane or heat shield that may have been carried by winds or scattered during the rover’s descent in 2012. This particular anomalous cylinder could be a bit of wiring or wheel material from Curiosity itself. The rover has shed small pieces during its operations, and similar anomalies in past images have been traced back to mission hardware. The Curiosity rover is approximately the size of a small SUV, measuring roughly 3-meters-long, 2.8-meters-wide, and 2.2-meters-tall. It weighs nearly 899 kilogram and features a 2.1-meters-long robotic arm and wheels with a 50.8-centimeter diameter.
The Martian harsh environment can also shape rocks into unusual forms, like the “blueberries” (hematite spherules) or gypsum crystals seen elsewhere in Gale Crater.
NASA has not officially commented on this mysterious cylindrical object.
Currently, the Curiosity rover is exploring the lower slopes of Mount Sharp within the Martian Gale Crater, about 8 kilometers away from the location of the cylinder. To clarify the mystery, it would make sense to go back to its location and examine it from up close. At Curiosity’s maximum speed of 0.16 kilometers per hour, the rover could return within a couple of days back to the location of the cylinder.
Should we just assume that the mysterious cylinder is human-made debris and move on or turn back the rover to figure out whether its origin is different?

In the remote wilderness of the Shoria Mountains in southern Siberia, a long-hidden secret has remained untouched for millennia. Far from the reach of modern civilization, a discovery was made that would challenge our understanding of ancient human history.

In 2013, a team of 19 researchers, led by Georgy Sidorov, embarked on an expedition to explore this mysterious region. Their destination was Gora Shoria, a mountain towering 3,600 feet above sea level in a remote part of Russia. Intrigued by reports of strange megalithic structures, the team ventured into this secluded terrain.
What they found was extraordinary: an immense super-megalith dating back roughly 100,000 years that defied conventional history. These massive stone blocks, later known as the Gornaya Shoria Megaliths, appeared to be made of granite, featuring flat surfaces and precise right angles. The most astounding detail was the weight of the stones, exceeding 3,000 tons—making them the largest megaliths ever discovered.
The arrangement of these granite blocks suggested a deliberate design, far beyond what could be explained by natural formations. The blocks were carefully stacked, reaching a height of approximately 140 feet. This raised profound questions: how were such massive stones carved, transported, and assembled in this remote and rugged landscape?
Some researchers have speculated about the existence of a pre-flood civilization, a sophisticated society wiped out by a cataclysmic event.
Also a deep, narrow vertical shaft was uncovered. The shaft, lined with parallel stone slabs, appeared to be human-made.
The walls of the shaft were straight and polished, descending 40 meters (around 130 feet) before opening into a vast underground hall, 36 meters (around 118 feet) high. These walls were constructed from large megalithic blocks, perfectly fitted with minimal gaps. Some of the stones resembled columns, reinforcing the idea of deliberate design. The full explored length of the shaft spanned over 100 meters (approximately 350 feet).
The precision and scale of this structure left no doubt that it was an artificial creation of immense proportions. The polished walls and massive blocks bore a striking resemblance to the shafts within the Great Pyramid of Khufu in Egypt, suggesting a level of architectural sophistication that defies conventional explanations.
Speculation abounds regarding the shaft’s original purpose. Some believe it served an advanced technological function or was part of a larger, undiscovered structure. The exploration team took over an hour to reach the bottom of the shaft, which required significant climbing expertise and endurance. It is believed that additional chambers and channels, still unexplored, may lie even deeper underground.
How could these gigantic 200-ton stone blocks have been assembled with such accuracy, deep underground? What kind of technology was used to construct the shaft and underground chamber?
Some researchers have speculated that it may have been part of an ancient factory, a seismological research device, or even an energy generator. Others believe it was the underground portion of a long-lost pyramid that once stood on the surface of the mountain.
Despite differing theories, we may wonder what ancient forces or lost civilizations left their mark on this remote corner of the world?
